Kindness Rocks children's book becomes family theatre show

Liverpool author and former teacher Sheryl Webster is bringing her children's book Kindness Rocks to the stage this summer in a new family theatre show at the Epstein Theatre on August 9.

Kindness Rocks LIVE

Produced by Beyond The Line Theatre Company, Kindness Rocks LIVE is a musical storytelling experience designed for children and families during the school holidays. The show features the character Jonny the rockstar lion and promotes themes of kindness, confidence and empathy.

Community initiative

Since launching in 2024, Kindness Rocks has grown into a wider community initiative across Liverpool, reaching thousands of children through school workshops, charity projects and events. These include RockYourSocks, which donated more than 4,600 pairs of socks to people experiencing homelessness, and a community day at the Bombed Out Church attended by over 500 people.

The new stage show continues that message, encouraging children to see how small acts of kindness can make a big difference in everyday life. It will also support Cash for Kids' Mission Christmas Appeal, with £1 from every ticket donated to the charity.

Director's vision

Callum O'Brien, director of Beyond The Theatre Company, said the production brings the message of kindness to life in a new way through storytelling, music and audience participation. Sheryl Webster added that the show marks an exciting next step for the project.

Tickets for Kindness Rocks LIVE on August 9 at the Epstein Theatre, Liverpool, are available now.
