The UK is home to a remarkable array of outdoor pools and lidos, perfect for enjoying the warmer weather. As temperatures are forecast to reach 24C in parts of the south, now is the ideal time to plan a visit. Our interactive map, sourced from allthelidos.co.uk, helps you locate your nearest swimming spot, whether you prefer serious lane swimming or a fun day out with the family.
Historic Lidos Worth Visiting
Among the most notable is Sea Lanes in Brighton, an outdoor pool and wellness hub opened in 2023, offering stunning views of the sea. The Strand Lido in Gillingham, Kent, reopens for weekends in May, boasting Mediterranean-style white facades and waterslides. Jubilee Pool in Penzance is a classic Art Deco lido from 1935, featuring Britain's largest seawater pool and a geothermal pool heated to 28-30C.
Revitalized Community Pools
Some historic pools have been given a new lease on life. Hilsea Lido near Portsmouth closed in 2022 but has undergone a £7.75 million refurbishment. It now includes a sauna, new changing facilities, an ice cream parlour, and a food van, aiming to provide a holiday-at-home experience for the local community.
Before heading out, check the pool's official website or social media, as some facilities may open later in the summer. With the UK briefly warmer than Ibiza, enjoy the sunshine while it lasts.
