Yungblud became visibly emotional as he paused his concert at Birmingham's Utilita Arena to pay a heartfelt tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne, the legendary Black Sabbath frontman. The performance took place on Thursday, 23 April, as part of his Idols tour, marking his first show in the city since Osbourne's passing.
A Touching Dedication
As the opening notes of Black Sabbath's classic song 'Changes' filled the arena, Yungblud, whose real name is Dominic Harrison, addressed the crowd: "You won't mind if I dedicate this next song to a friend of mine in the sky tonight Birmingham! This next song goes out to Mr Ozzy Osbourne!" The 28-year-old Doncaster-born musician, who shared a close bond with the Aston-born rockstar, admitted he had been "sh****** myself for days" to perform the song in Ozzy's hometown.
Emotional Moments On Stage
With tears in his eyes, Yungblud continued: "Thank you so much for everything. I will never take this for granted. I love you man. I love Birmingham and I promise I will come back here every year until the day I die." The crowd responded with cheers and chants of 'Ozzy! Ozzy!' as the tribute resonated deeply with fans.
A Friendship Forged in Music
Yungblud and Ozzy Osbourne developed a strong friendship over the years, with Osbourne serving as both a mentor and a close friend. Their bond was evident when Yungblud performed 'Changes' at the Back to the Beginning show at Villa Park in July 2025, a performance that later earned him his first Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance at the 2026 Grammys.
Exchanging Meaningful Gifts
The pair also exchanged heartfelt gifts. Backstage at the Back to the Beginning concert, Yungblud gave Ozzy a cross necklace, which the young singer described as "so f****** cool." This was in return for a gold cross that Ozzy had given Yungblud in 2022 during the video shoot for 'The Funeral', telling him, "I hope it brings you luck."
Remembering Ozzy Osbourne
Ozzy Osbourne, the Birmingham-born legend, passed away on 22 July 2025. His memory continues to be honored by his family—Sharon Osbourne, Kelly Osbourne, and Jack Osbourne—as well as by friends like Yungblud. Before his gig, Yungblud was spotted 'tucked away' at a local pub in the city, reflecting on the special connection he shared with the Prince of Darkness.
