Nine-Year Partnership Bears Fruit

Don Rae Academy of Movement and Arts has been collaborating with Larchwood Primary School in Brentwood for an impressive nine years. This long-standing partnership sees a different year group each half term dedicate an entire day to creating a performance for parents.

The academy and school have explored various creative themes over the years, with past productions including celebrations of cultural events like Chinese New Year.

Reception Pupils Take Centre Stage

This month, the spotlight fell on the school's youngest learners. The Reception class pupils, who only started school last month, had their turn to learn something completely new.

For many parents, this was a particularly special occasion. Headteacher Steve Bowsher explained the significance: "This was the first time our Reception parents came in to see their children at their new school."

Unlocking Every Child's Potential

Mr Bowsher was full of praise for the workshop leader, highlighting his unique ability to connect with all children. "Don Rae has this ability to get the very best out of children, even those who can find learning more challenging," he stated.

The headteacher emphasised the value of seeing the children in a different light, adding: "We do not always get to see children in this light, so it is wonderful for everyone to see them come out of themselves and have fun."

The event successfully provided a joyful and confidence-building experience for the young pupils, marking a memorable milestone in their early educational journey.
