West Midlands School Named Among UK's Best for Attendance and Behaviour
A West Midlands school has received national recognition from the Government for its outstanding efforts in improving student attendance and behaviour. Q3 Academy Langley in Oldbury has been designated a 'Lead Hub' by the Department for Education, placing it among the top schools in the country for these crucial educational metrics.
National Recognition for Exemplary Practices
The Department for Education's 'Lead Hub' designation identifies schools that have demonstrated exceptional performance in attendance and behaviour management. These institutions are recognised for developing effective strategies that create positive learning environments, with their methods intended to serve as models for other schools across the nation to follow.
Sandwell Council praised Q3 Academy, stating it is "nationally recognised for creating a calm, purposeful and highly supportive learning environment." Council officials added: "Students attend regularly and punctually, and their conduct is consistently positive; outcomes which the DfE has highlighted as areas of significant strength."
Ofsted Approval and School Leadership
Q3 Academy Langley currently holds a 'good' rating from Ofsted. During the most recent ungraded inspection in December 2024, education inspectors noted they had observed evidence suggesting "the school’s work may have improved significantly across all areas since the previous inspection."
Headteacher Peter Lee expressed his enthusiasm about the national recognition, saying: "We are thrilled to be named as a Lead Hub school by the Department for Education and look forward to supporting schools both here in Sandwell and across the West Midlands in the coming months."
Local Government Support and Future Impact
Cllr Bhullar, Sandwell Council's cabinet member for education, commended the school's achievements, describing Q3 Academy Langley as "a wonderful example of child friendly Sandwell in action." He continued: "This is a school where children feel safe, respected and able to thrive. Their outstanding approach to behaviour and attendance shows what happens when young people are supported to flourish and when their voices truly matter."
The councillor added: "I am incredibly proud that the DfE has recognised their work nationally, and I know they will make a real difference as they support other schools across Sandwell and the wider West Midlands."
As a designated Lead Hub, Q3 Academy Langley will now play a pivotal role in sharing its successful strategies with other educational institutions, helping to raise standards of attendance and behaviour across the region and potentially throughout the country.
