Metro and Clayton Hotel Birmingham Forge Partnership to Promote Sustainable Travel

West Midlands Metro has announced a strategic partnership with Clayton Hotel Birmingham, aimed at encouraging more sustainable travel options across the city. This collaboration follows the recent launch of the Metro service to Millennium Point and is designed to enhance tourism and reduce carbon emissions in Birmingham.

Exclusive Tram Discounts for Hotel Guests and Staff

Under the new agreement, guests staying at Clayton Hotel Birmingham, one of the city's premier accommodations, will receive a 15 per cent discount on tram travel throughout their visit. This initiative is expected to save visitors money, making it easier and more affordable to explore Birmingham city centre and its surrounding attractions.

Additionally, employees of Clayton Hotel Birmingham will benefit from a 20 per cent discount on tram journeys, providing a more economical and convenient commuting option. This perk is particularly valuable with the new Birmingham Eastside Extension tram stop now operational directly outside the hotel, offering seamless access to the Metro network.

Enhanced Benefits for Metro Staff and Visitors

Michael Reading-Skilton, head of commercial at Metro, highlighted the reciprocal benefits of the partnership. "Our colleagues will also enjoy a 20 per cent discount on stays at the hotel, which supports a better work-life balance for our expanding team," he stated. "With trams departing every 15 minutes from the hotel and up to every eight to 10 minutes across the wider network, the Metro provides a quick and convenient way for visitors to discover the city. This partnership underscores our ongoing commitment to boosting regional tourism."

Hotel guests and staff can access these exclusive travel discounts across all West Midlands Metro zones via the MyMetro app. Guests can obtain discount codes at the hotel reception, while tram passengers can unlock a special room rate by using the code WMMC25 when booking online. Furthermore, visitors presenting a valid Metro ticket will receive a 15 per cent discount at the hotel's Grill Restaurant and Alvar Bar.

Commitment to Sustainability and Tourism Growth

A spokesperson for Clayton Hotel Birmingham expressed enthusiasm for the initiative. "We are thrilled to collaborate with West Midlands Metro on this exciting project. Sustainability is central to our values, and providing our guests and team members with easier, greener access to the city represents a significant advancement," they said. "With the new tram stop conveniently located at our doorstep, visitors can effortlessly explore Birmingham's attractions while minimising their environmental impact."

The spokesperson added, "For our employees, the discount makes commuting more affordable and convenient, promoting well-being and improving work-life balance. We are confident that this partnership will not only benefit our hotel community but also contribute to a broader tourism surge across Birmingham city."

This partnership is set to enhance the overall visitor experience, supporting Birmingham's reputation as a forward-thinking destination committed to sustainable practices and economic growth.
