A heart-melting wildlife encounter warmed up a chilly January day at a popular Yorkshire attraction, when a friendly robin decided a visitor's hair was the perfect spot to snuggle.
A Feathered Friend Lands on a Camera
The adorable moment unfolded on Monday, January 5, 2026, at Yorkshire Wildlife Park in Doncaster. Visitor Fay Wadsworth, a keen photographer, was waiting by the Amur leopard enclosure hoping to capture images of the new cubs.
She suddenly heard a flapping sound and a distinctive 'churrup' call. To her surprise, a little robin had landed directly on her camera. The bird then nestled itself into her hair, seemingly seeking warmth on the cold winter's day.
An Unexpected and Patient Guest
"Initially thinking it must’ve flown into me and got caught up in my hair, I freed his legs and opened out my hand, expecting him to fly away as quickly as he possibly could – but he didn't; he stayed," Fay explained.
Rather than disturbing her unexpected guest, Fay sought advice from the park rangers. Following their guidance, she remained near a woodland area while the robin rested comfortably with her. The patient encounter lasted for some time before the bird eventually flew into a nearby tree and began singing.
