Amy Dowden Returns to Hospital for Bone Infusion After Strictly Blackpool
Amy Dowden back in hospital for cancer treatment

Strictly Come Dancing professional Amy Dowden has returned to hospital in Birmingham for ongoing treatment, sharing an honest look at her health journey with fans.

A Difficult But Necessary Treatment

The 35-year-old dancer visited Good Hope Hospital on Monday, November 24, where she underwent a bone infusion and received her monthly infusion. In a heartfelt video shared on Instagram, Amy didn't shy away from expressing how challenging she finds these hospital visits.

"Is it easy? No. Do I like it? No. I don't. But do I do it? Yeah, I do," she said in a voiceover, demonstrating her remarkable determination amid ongoing health struggles.

From Dance Floor to Hospital Ward

This hospital appointment came immediately after Amy's emotional weekend supporting her Strictly colleagues during the show's special Blackpool episode. It was her first time being part of the Blackpool show in three years, making the occasion particularly significant for the professional dancer.

Despite her excitement at being backstage, Amy confessed she desperately wanted to dance but recognized the need for patience during her recovery. Her appearance at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom came shortly after she and partner Thomas Skinner were eliminated from this year's competition.

Continuing Cancer Journey

Amy's health battle began in May 2023 when she was first diagnosed with breast cancer. She underwent a single mastectomy and chemotherapy before receiving the welcome news in 2024 that doctors could find 'no evidence of disease'.

However, in a recent development, the dancer revealed she requires a second mastectomy. She has been quick to reassure fans that this procedure isn't due to a new cancer diagnosis but rather a decision made collaboratively with her medical team.

During her latest hospital visit, Amy found a moment of brightness despite the difficult circumstances - teddy bear plasters used to secure her infusion tubes. "Don't look now if you're a little bit squeamish but look I got little teddy bears today!" she shared with characteristic positivity.

Overwhelming Support from Fans

The dancer's openness about her treatment journey has inspired an outpouring of support from Strictly viewers and fellow dancers alike. Fans flooded her social media with encouraging messages including "Wishing you all the best" and "aww amy bless you! Stay strong my strictly queen!"

Amy continues to face her treatment with the same grace and determination she's shown throughout her dancing career, proving that even during the most challenging hospital visits, she remains focused on maintaining positivity and hope for the future.
