Beverley Callard, best known for her role as Liz McDonald on Coronation Street, has been forced to withdraw from the live final of I'm A Celebrity... South Africa on medical advice. The 69-year-old actress informed fans that doctors advised her against traveling from her home in Ireland to London for the event.
Medical Advice Prevents Travel
Although I'm A Celebrity... South Africa is pre-recorded, the final will crown one campmate champion in front of a live studio audience in London. Beverley expressed her disappointment, stating she had already booked her flights but cannot attend due to health concerns. She shared a video on social media, saying, "Yesterday, I should have flown to England to get ready for the I'm A Celeb final. I was so excited and looking forward to it, but on medical advice, I can't go. I am absolutely gutted."
Health Journey
In February, Beverley was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer, four months after filming the series. She underwent surgery earlier this month to remove the disease, which had spread to a lymph node. Despite the setback, she remains positive and is focusing on recovery. "I will be watching, and I will be on Zoom chatting to everybody. So I've got to make the best of a bad job, but I am resting, and I am doing as I am told. Thanks to everybody," she added.
Unexpected Exit from Camp
Earlier this week, viewers saw Beverley make an unexpected exit from the camp after suffering a "funny turn." She later revealed that this was the start of her battle with breast cancer. In a social media post, she explained, "I just watched my exit on I'm A Celeb, and it made me cry all over again. Of course, I didn't know then that I had cancer, but I just knew that it was the last couple of days there that I hadn't felt very well." She described losing consciousness briefly in the Bush Telegraph and being taken to a medical hut, where she was told she could not return to camp. Despite her desire to stay, she was sent home, marking the beginning of her health journey.
Positive Recovery
Last week, Beverley announced that her cancer operation was successful, with doctors removing the disease. However, it had spread to a lymph node and was sent to America for testing. She remains determined to beat the illness, stating, "It's made me really emotional, but I will beat this. I will beat it."
