Five dead in Dundalk two-car road collision

Tragedy struck on a County Louth road on Saturday night as five young people lost their lives in a devastating two-car collision.

Details of the Fatal Incident

Irish police confirmed that three men and two women, all in their 20s, died at the scene on the L3168 just outside Dundalk. The fatal road traffic collision occurred at approximately 9pm on 15th November 2025.

According to Superintendent Charlie Armstrong from Dundalk Garda station, all five young adults were travelling in the same vehicle - a Volkswagen Golf. Another male passenger from the same car, also in his 20s, was rushed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Emergency Response and Investigation

The collision involved two vehicles - the Volkswagen Golf and a Toyota Landcruiser. The two occupants of the Toyota, a man and a woman, were also taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Superintendent Armstrong expressed his condolences to the families of the victims, noting that the loss would have a deep impact on communities in Carrickmacross, Dromconrath and in Scotland.

A major incident response was initiated involving Gardaí, Dundalk Fire Brigade, HSE Paramedics and hospital staff. The scene on the L3168 at Gibstown remains closed while Garda Forensic Collision investigators conduct technical examinations.

Appeal for Information

Police have established an incident room at Dundalk Garda Station and are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or has relevant footage.

Investigators are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was on the L3168 between 8:30pm and 9:15pm on Saturday 15th November 2025, or anyone who may have camera footage from the Gibstown area during that time.

Family Liaison Officers have been appointed to support the grieving families as the investigation continues. The local Coroner's Office and the Office of the State Pathologist have been notified, with post-mortems scheduled for the coming days.
