Three paramedics from the North West Ambulance Service were taken to hospital, two with serious injuries, after their emergency vehicle was involved in a collision on Friday night. The crash occurred as the crew was responding to a 999 call with blue lights activated.

Details of the Serious Collision

The incident happened at approximately 8.30pm on Friday, November 28, on Eardswick Lane in Minshull Vernon, near Crewe. All three ambulance staff members were injured in the smash. Following initial treatment at the scene by fellow emergency services, they were transported to the Royal Stoke University Hospital for further care.

A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service confirmed the seriousness of the situation, stating: "On the evening of November 28, a road traffic incident occurred involving an ambulance carrying three members of our staff, two of which have sustained serious injuries." They confirmed that no patient was on board the ambulance at the time of the collision.

Police Investigation and Appeal for Witnesses

Cheshire Police have launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Detective Sergeant Iain Condliffe, from the force's serious collision investigation unit, emphasised that enquiries are ongoing.

The police are now appealing to the public for information. DS Condliffe said: "We’re keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, or anyone with any video footage which may aid our investigation." Witnesses are asked to call police on 101, quoting incident number 2223522.

In the aftermath, the ambulance service stated that its immediate priority is the wellbeing of the injured colleagues. A spokesman said: "We are in close contact with their families to offer support." They also expressed being "immensely grateful" for the rapid response and care provided by the air ambulance, police, and fire service colleagues who attended.
