A community in Barry, South Wales, has been left devastated after the tragic death of a young child on Sunday evening.
Emergency Services Rush to Scene
Just before 9.25pm on Sunday, January 4, 2026, emergency services received a distressing call concerning a toddler suffering a medical episode at a property on Gladstone Road. Multiple units from the ambulance service and South Wales Police responded immediately to the incident.
In a significant escalation of the response, an air ambulance was also dispatched to the location. Images from the scene in the early hours of Monday showed a substantial emergency presence, with approximately seven vehicles and the air ambulance on the road.
Child Pronounced Dead at the Scene
Despite the rapid and extensive efforts of all medical personnel and first responders at the property, the toddler's life could not be saved. The young child was pronounced dead at the scene. The police have confirmed that they are not treating the death as suspicious.
