Former Little Mix star Jesy Nelson, 34, has shared an emotional update on her twin girls after they recently hit a major new milestone. The doting mother of two revealed that her 11-month-old daughters, Ocean Jade and Story Monroe, both ate in their specialized feeding chairs for the very first time this week, a moment that left her in tears.
Heartwarming Video Shared on Social Media
Taking to Instagram Stories, Jesy posted an adorable video of the twins enjoying pureed food while strapped into their new high chairs, which feature extra neck support and waist straps for safety. In the clip, she joked with Ocean as she fed her: "Excuse me, you're supposed to eat it, not spit it out." The video then shifted to Story, who also smiled for the camera while eating.
Overcoming SMA Challenges
The twins were diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1, a severe and incurable genetic disease that weakens muscles, back in January. Despite the diagnosis, Jesy has been celebrating their progress. Earlier this year, she admitted feeling sad when the feeding chairs arrived, calling it "another reminder of another obstacle we have to tackle." However, the singer has been soaking up positive moments, including Story saying "muma" for the first time last week. Jesy captioned the video: "My heart is so full."
Raising Awareness and Supporting Others
Since the diagnosis, Jesy has been working to raise awareness about SMA Type 1. She has shared the twins' journey, including leg splints and physiotherapy, to help other families feel seen. "If talking about this helps one family feel seen, then it's worth it," she previously said. The milestones come as a relief after doctors warned the girls may never walk and could face serious breathing and feeding difficulties.
