Dianne Buswell shares 'scary' baby hormone warning

Strictly Come Dancing professional Dianne Buswell has opened up about a 'scary' aspect of impending motherhood after receiving a stark warning about postnatal hormones from another mum.

The 'Bathroom Floor' Warning

The 36-year-old dancer, who is expecting her first child—a baby boy—with partner Joe Sugg early next year, shared her concerns on her 'Winning Isn't Everything' podcast. She revealed that a fellow mother sent her a message detailing an intense hormonal shift that typically occurs around day four after giving birth.

"Someone told me yesterday," Dianne explained to her co-host, former Strictly partner Chris McCausland. "On day four after you've had the baby, apparently your hormones go from like a million to literally zero. It drops."

The message included a specific warning: "Don't be alarmed if you just wake up and just start crying on the bathroom floor." The mother described a feeling of not wanting to move and a sense of being unable to do anything.

Responding to this candid insight, Dianne admitted, "Oh gosh, that bit's going to be scary, isn't it? Just the hormones."

Birth Plans and British Boy

During the same podcast conversation, Dianne also clarified where she plans to welcome her son into the world. Despite being Australian and planning a trip home to see her family just before Christmas, she confirmed she will return to the UK for the birth.

When Chris McCausland asked if she had considered staying in Australia for the delivery, Dianne revealed her decision: "I thought about it. But he's going to be a British boy." She did add, however, that she is "definitely going to speak Australian to him."

Strictly Challenges and Pregnancy 'Pop'

The professional dancer also recently shared how her pregnancy is affecting her work on Strictly Come Dancing. Although she and her partner Stefan Dennis exited the competition in week five due to his injury, Dianne continues to participate in group dances.

In a recent Instagram video, she showcased her growing baby bump in a skintight bodysuit, announcing "As they say, I have popped!" Her caption highlighted the practical challenges she now faces, writing: "Getting dressed for rehearsals is getting a little harder these days."

Dianne's honest discussion about both the emotional and physical aspects of pregnancy provides a relatable glimpse into her journey towards motherhood, resonating with many expectant parents who experience similar fears and adjustments.
