Residents throughout Scotland are being urged to lace up their trainers and embrace a healthier start to the year by participating in Jog 28, an innovative month-long initiative designed to enhance physical fitness, improve mental wellbeing, and raise crucial funds for vital mental health services.

What is the Jog 28 Challenge?

Running throughout the entire month of February, the Jog 28 challenge invites participants of all ages and abilities to complete 28 miles over 28 days. This accessible programme is completely free to join, encouraging individuals to jog, walk, or run at their own comfortable pace, making it an inclusive opportunity for everyone to stay active and socially connected during the winter months.

Charity Support and Registration Details

The challenge is organised by the Mental Health Foundation, a leading charity dedicated to supporting good mental health for all. Fiona Halton, Head of Public and High Value Fundraising at the Foundation, emphasised the dual benefits of participation. "We are inviting the people in Scotland to join us on Jog 28. This challenge is about turning up for yourselves; by moving, taking in your surroundings and taking care of your physical health, which will in turn boost your mental wellbeing," she stated.

Halton further highlighted the social aspect, noting, "Things are always easier when shared, and we know connection is key for good mental health. Jog 28 is a perfect opportunity to step out with a friend and catch up whilst improving your wellbeing."

With the start of February rapidly approaching, prospective participants are encouraged to register promptly to secure their place. The registration window is open now, and those who sign up will receive a complimentary Mental Health Foundation T-shirt, subject to availability. Additionally, anyone who raises a minimum of £30 through their efforts will be rewarded with a free beanie hat.
