Alison Hammond Shares the Fitness Secrets Behind Her 11-Stone Weight Loss Maintenance

Alison Hammond has opened up about the specific fitness routine that enables her to sustain her remarkable 11-stone weight loss. The beloved This Morning presenter, aged 51, has completely transformed her health over the past five years through dedicated diet modifications, consistent exercise, and significant lifestyle adjustments.

A Combination of Pilates and Circuit Training

Currently focused on maintaining her weight, Alison detailed her wellness regimen, explaining that she recently began practicing Reformer Pilates because she described herself as "as stiff as a board." She enthusiastically noted, "You feel absolutely incredible after it. I really need a good stretch, so Reformer Pilates has been brilliant for me."

In addition to Pilates, Alison participates in an early-morning circuit class led by Steve Hensel at Blue Zone. She attends these sessions at 6:30 AM for a full hour, characterizing them as a "proper old-school gym" experience. Alison consistently reports feeling "amazing" after her workouts, though she admitted there are certain wellness trends she avoids entirely.

Wellness Trends She Avoids

Alison revealed that she experimented with a cold plunge pool once but found the experience unbearable, lasting only about a minute. She questioned, "Why am I literally trying to kill myself?" Furthermore, she has explicitly stated she will not use weight-loss injections, citing "scary" stories she has heard about them.

She clarified her position, saying, "I think that, for people who need to use them, they're a good thing — but for me, as soon as I hear any scare story, I get frightened. So I haven't wanted to use them, but that's not to say I wouldn't in the future, and I certainly wouldn't look down on anyone who did."

The Motivation Behind Her Health Journey

Alison's health transformation began after she received a pre-diabetic diagnosis, which served as a crucial wake-up call prompting her to overhaul her diet and exercise habits. She has since reversed that diagnosis and attributes her increased energy and confidence to these changes.

When working on The Great British Bake Off, surrounded by tempting cakes and pastries, Alison maintains balance by sampling only the top-rated items. She explained, "I eat a bit of Paul and Prue's after they've finished judging. I only try the ones that got a handshake from Paul or ones that won. If the judges aren't impressed, I'm not trying it."

Consistency and Moderation Are Key

The television personality, who once weighed 28 stone, credits her personal trainer for helping her stay consistent. Alison trains approximately four days a week when her schedule permits, incorporating walks on busy workdays. She emphasized, "I don't deny myself anything. I eat everything, but in moderation."

Alison's late mother, Maria, who passed away in 2020 after battling lung and liver cancer, inspired her to make lasting health improvements. Her ongoing transformation prioritizes balance over perfection, demonstrating that sustainable weight management involves both disciplined exercise and mindful eating.
