Aldi Recalls Christmas Gonks Over Undeclared Peanut Health Risk
Aldi recalls Christmas snack over peanut allergy risk

The budget supermarket Aldi has issued an urgent recall for a popular Christmas chocolate snack, warning customers it could pose a serious health risk.

Product Details and Safety Warning

The recall affects Dairyfine Salted Caramel Filled Gonks in the 90g size. The product is being recalled regardless of its best before date, but only if it has the specific batch code 4061463276865.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has confirmed that the product may contain peanuts which are not declared on the label. This makes it a potential health risk for anyone with a peanut allergy or intolerance.

What Customers Should Do

Aldi has instructed anyone who has purchased the affected product not to consume it. Instead, customers are urged to return the item to their nearest Aldi store for a full refund. The supermarket has apologised, stating the product did not meet its normal high standards.

Point-of-sale notices are being displayed in stores to alert shoppers about the recall. Furthermore, Aldi has been advised to contact relevant allergy support organisations to ensure their members are informed.

A Pattern of Recent Recalls

This is not the first such incident for Aldi in recent weeks. Last month, the supermarket recalled its Dairyfine Crispy Choc Um's over identical concerns about undeclared peanuts.

At the time, the allergy charity Anaphylaxis UK reiterated the warning, stating that such products are unsuitable for and should be avoided by anyone with an allergy or intolerance to peanuts.

Customers with any concerns are advised to check the batch code of their product and follow the recall instructions to ensure their safety.
