Aldi has launched an urgent product recall for a popular Christmas chocolate item, warning customers of a serious undeclared allergy risk. The supermarket is advising shoppers to check their purchases immediately.
What Product Is Being Recalled?
The affected item is the Dairyfine Salted Caramel Filled Gonks, a 90g packet of seasonal chocolates. The recall is specific to one batch, identified by the code 4061463276865. This action covers all 'Best before' dates for this particular batch.
Why Has The Recall Been Issued?
The recall was initiated because the chocolates may contain peanuts that are not declared on the product label. This omission presents a severe and potentially life-threatening health risk to individuals with a peanut allergy.
Both Aldi and the Food Standards Agency (FSA) have issued official warnings. The FSA has been explicit in its advice, stating that anyone with a peanut allergy must "not eat" the product.
What Should Customers Do Now?
Customers who have purchased the chocolates must not consume them. Aldi is asking anyone who has bought the affected batch to return it to their nearest store, where they will receive a full refund. No receipt is required for the return.
Aldi has described the move as a "precautionary measure" taken by its supplier after the potential contamination was discovered. The retailer has apologised to customers, stating that the product "did not meet our normal high standards."
This urgent recall, announced on the 2nd of December 2025, highlights the critical importance of accurate food labelling, especially during the festive period when seasonal products are in high demand.
