A former Birmingham doctor is facing prosecution over a series of alleged sexual assaults involving 38 patients, including a child.
Charges Span Multiple Serious Offences
Nathaniel Spencer, aged 38 and from Quinton, Birmingham, has been formally charged with a total of 45 offences following a complex police investigation. The charges include 15 counts of sexual assault and 17 counts of assault by penetration.
He also faces multiple charges relating to a child, specifically nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13, three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration, and one count of attempting to assault by penetration.
Detailed Police Investigation into Patient Abuse
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) authorised the charges after reviewing evidence gathered by Staffordshire Police. The alleged offences are said to have taken place between 2017 and 2021 while Spencer was working as a doctor.
Ben Samples, Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor for the West Midlands CPS Complex Casework Unit, stated: "Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a detailed and complex investigation by Staffordshire Police. Carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest to pursue criminal proceedings."
The CPS emphasised that the alleged crimes were committed against patients under Spencer's care.
Court Appearance Scheduled for 2026
Spencer is scheduled to appear at North Staffordshire Justice Centre in Newcastle-under-Lyme on January 20, 2026.
The CPS has issued a standard reminder that criminal proceedings against the defendant are now active. They stress the importance of the right to a fair trial and have warned against any reporting, commentary, or online sharing of information that could potentially prejudice the legal proceedings.
The case highlights the serious nature of the allegations against a former medical professional entrusted with patient care.
