Emergency services recovered the body of a woman in her 60s from water in the Island Lodge area of Tottington, Bury, on Sunday evening. She was pronounced dead at the scene, with police stating there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.

Greater Manchester Police were called to reports of a body in the water near Mill Street at around 8.20pm on June 28. Witnesses reported a significant police presence at the scene. The woman, aged in her 60s, was retrieved from the water and sadly pronounced dead. A police spokesperson confirmed: "At around 8.20pm last night (28 June), officers responded to reports of a body in the water close to Mill Street, Tottington. Sadly, the body of a woman in her 60s was recovered from the water. There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances."

Recent water tragedies in Greater Manchester

This incident follows two other tragic water-related events in the region over the weekend. The body of a 15-year-old boy was recovered from Cowbury Reservoir in Stalybridge, Tameside, after a major search operation. Additionally, a second teenage boy was reported missing in the River Irwell at Clifton Country Park in Salford, with the search ongoing as of Monday.
