The 20-year-old Sweden international has emerged as a potential target for Villa, Chelsea, Nottingham Forest, and Bayern Munich, with reports suggesting he desires consistent first-team football away from Spurs.
Bergvall speaks out after World Cup exit
Speaking to Swedish media outlet Aftonbladet via FootballLondon following Sweden's 3-0 World Cup round of 32 defeat to France, Bergvall said: "I want continuous matches in my position. That is the only goal. We'll see what happens in the future. I've only been focused on the World Cup until now." The midfielder started the match but was unable to prevent his nation's elimination.
Throughout the tournament, Bergvall remained tight-lipped about his club future. When pressed on whether he intends to stay in the Premier League, he added: "As I said, my focus has been on the World Cup. We'll deal with whatever comes next. I don't know – we'll see."
Limited opportunities under De Zerbi
Since Roberto De Zerbi took the reins at Tottenham in March, Bergvall has managed just a single start, clocking up a mere 112 minutes of action. His chances of regular first-team football appear increasingly slim next season, with the arrivals of Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali bolstering De Zerbi's midfield options, further squeezing the Swedish youngster out of contention.
Despite his desire for more playing time, recent reports suggest Tottenham have firmly stated the player is not available for transfer. Bergvall remains tied to the club until 2031.
