Canterbury accountant Eddi Taylor is preparing to run the London Marathon alongside his brother Oli in memory of their father, who passed away suddenly a decade ago from undiagnosed heart disease. The pair are raising funds for the British Heart Foundation and have already collected nearly £6,000 from friends, colleagues, and supporters, with donations continuing to come in ahead of race day.
Personal Challenge for a Worthy Cause
Eddi, South East managing partner at top 10 UK accountancy firm Azets, said the milestone anniversary felt like the right time to take on the challenge in his father’s honour and support a charity funding vital research and patient care. The brothers have been training since November, balancing long runs with busy working lives, and are now tapering ahead of the marathon this weekend.
Training Demands
Eddi admitted fitting training around work has been demanding, joking that early morning half-marathon runs before a full day in the office have 'made him question his life choices'. Their father died aged 56, and the family hope their fundraising will help prevent other families from experiencing a similar loss. Donations to their marathon effort can be made online.
The London Marathon takes place this Sunday, with thousands of runners expected to participate. Eddi and Oli will be among them, driven by a personal mission to make a difference.
