Former Love Island star Wil Anderson is currently in America supporting his brother, footballer Elliot Anderson, at the 2026 World Cup. The 23-year-old midfielder, who recently signed for Manchester City for a record £116 million, is representing England in the tournament.
Wil Anderson's Family Connection
Before entering the Love Island villa in 2024, Wil admitted he was "super picky" but was excited for his journey. He met and fell in love with Uma Jammeh, and the series 11 couple got engaged in July 2025 in Mallorca. While they enjoy wedding planning, worldwide attention is on Wil's famous brother.
Elliot Anderson's Football Career
Elliot Anderson started his professional career at Newcastle United as a midfielder in 2021. After a loan spell at Bristol Rovers in 2022, he returned to Newcastle before moving to Nottingham Forest in 2024 on a five-year contract. In 2026, he transferred to Manchester City for £116 million, making him the most expensive British player in history.
Anderson was first called up to the England squad for World Cup qualifiers in 2025 and was reselected for the 2026 World Cup. He reflected on his selection in an Instagram post: "Wow! Something I have dreamt of my whole life. Going to my first World Cup with England is my proudest moment yet. The hard work and dedication is paying off. I couldn’t have got to this point without the huge support from my family. Mum we are going to the World Cup."
Family Support Amid Tragedy
Wil and Elliot's mother tragically passed away earlier this year. As England progresses through the tournament, Wil has joined his brother in America and been a regular supporter at his games.
