East Midlands Airport Reminds Passengers of 100ml Liquid Rule for Summer Travel
East Midlands Airport Issues Liquid Limit Alert for Summer Season

East Midlands Airport has issued an urgent alert to passengers, reminding them that the 100ml liquid limit is still in place at the airport. This comes as the summer travel season begins, with the airport expecting to welcome nearly 150,000 customers over the Easter break.

Confusion Over Liquid Rules at UK Airports

In a Facebook post, the airport highlighted that all liquids must be under 100ml when passing through security. The reminder was issued because some airports in the UK have recently scrapped the 100ml limit, leading to potential confusion among travelers.

For example, Birmingham Airport no longer requires liquids to be under 100ml, thanks to new CT scanners that allow passengers to pack containers with up to two litres of liquid in their hand luggage. At these airports, laptops and tablets can also remain inside hand luggage.

  • Leeds Bradford
  • Liverpool
  • London Stansted

Some airports, such as Glasgow Prestwick and Inverness, require liquids to be in a clear resealable bag.

Summer Season and Travel Tips

The alert from East Midlands Airport coincides with the start of the summer season, as the airport prepares for a surge in travelers heading to around 70 popular destinations in Europe and north Africa. Steve Griffiths, Managing Director of East Midlands Airport, stated, "The Easter holidays signal the start of our summer season and are the first big getaway of the year. We continue to serve popular holiday destinations in Europe and beyond and remain the airport of choice for millions of people from around the region every year."

Passengers are advised to check specific airport rules before traveling to avoid delays. Refillable metal or vacuum containers must be emptied at security but can be refilled at free water stations post-security.
