easyJet Announces Major Expansion with Three New European Routes

In a significant boost for UK holidaymakers, budget airline easyJet has revealed plans to launch three new routes to popular European destinations from Newcastle and Manchester airports. The expansion, set to begin in spring 2026, aims to provide customers with enhanced choice and connectivity for both city breaks and beach getaways.

New Routes and Launch Dates

The airline will introduce flights from Newcastle to Rome starting March 30, 2026, perfectly timed for the Easter holiday period. This marks the first time easyJet will operate direct services between Newcastle and the Italian capital.

Additionally, Newcastle will gain a route to Lisbon commencing June 22, 2026, while Manchester will see new flights to Bari, Italy, from July 3, 2026. All three routes will operate twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays, ideal for extended weekend trips.

Affordable Fares and Package Options

easyJet has confirmed competitive starting fares for these new services:

  • Newcastle to Rome: from £33.99 one-way
  • Newcastle to Lisbon: from £43.99 one-way
  • Manchester to Bari: from £38.99 one-way

Through its holiday division, easyJet holidays will offer package deals to all three destinations. These packages include flights, hotel accommodation, 23kg luggage allowance, and transfers for Bari beach breaks, providing comprehensive travel solutions.

Strategic Growth in 30th Anniversary Year

Kevin Doyle, easyJet's UK country manager, emphasized the strategic importance of this expansion: "We're excited to be launching new routes and packages from Manchester and Newcastle to three of Europe's popular destinations, providing customers with even more choice and connectivity."

He added that in the airline's 30th anniversary year, easyJet is set to operate its largest ever summer flying programme, offering more than 50 million seats to and from the UK. "We remain as committed as ever to making travel easy and accessible for all," Doyle stated.

Enhanced Travel Opportunities

This expansion reflects easyJet's ongoing strategy to increase connectivity between UK regional airports and key European destinations. The new routes cater to diverse traveler preferences, from cultural explorations in Rome and Lisbon to relaxing beach holidays in Bari.

The twice-weekly schedule on Mondays and Fridays is designed to maximize flexibility for both short breaks and longer stays, supporting the growing demand for city and coastal tourism.

With these additions, easyJet continues to strengthen its position as a leading budget carrier in the European market, offering affordable and convenient travel options for UK passengers seeking European adventures.
