EDF Offers £15 December Bonus to UK EV Drivers with Driveways
EDF's £15 December bonus for EV households with driveways

Electric vehicle owners in the UK with access to a driveway are set to receive a welcome financial boost this December, thanks to a new incentive from energy supplier EDF.

December Bonus for Smart Charging Customers

The company has announced a special £15 payment for customers enrolled in its Smart Charging programme. This one-off reward for December consists of an extra £10 credit added to their bill, on top of the usual £5 monthly reward they receive. The offer is available until the 19th of December 2025.

Expanded Access to Cheaper Off-Peak Rates

In a significant expansion of the service, EDF has now opened its Smart Charging scheme to owners of specific home charger brands. Drivers who use either a myenergi zappi or a Hypervolt EV charger can now join.

This bolt-on service, powered by Kraken technology, works with EDF's EV-specific tariffs like GoElectric and the EVolve tracker. It automatically schedules charging for times when electricity is cheapest and the grid is most efficient, extending access to off-peak rates beyond the standard midnight to 5am window.

Substantial Annual Savings for Households

The potential savings for participants are considerable. EDF states that customers using Smart Charging in combination with its GoElectric tariff can save up to £555 per year compared to being on a Standard Variable rate.

Rich Hughes, Director of Retail at EDF, emphasised the company's commitment: "We’re committed to making EV ownership as simple and rewarding as possible. By integrating with trusted brands like myenergi zappi and Hypervolt, we’re giving even more drivers access to further benefits of EV driving."

He added that the initiative not only saves money but also helps reduce carbon emissions. The scheme has proven popular, with more than 1,000 EV drivers signing up since its launch in May 2025. EDF encourages drivers whose car or charger model is not yet supported to register their interest for future updates.
