Free Christmas Parking Returns to Hinckley on Four Key Saturdays
Free Christmas parking returns to Hinckley

Shoppers in Hinckley are set for a welcome financial boost this festive season as the Borough Council announces the return of free Saturday parking in the run-up to Christmas. The popular initiative is designed to support local residents and increase trade for town centre businesses during the costly holiday period.

Where and When to Park for Free

The free parking offer will be available on four consecutive Saturdays before Christmas. Shoppers can take advantage of free parking at Lower Bond Street, Trinity West, and Castle car parks after 9am on November 29, December 6, December 13, and December 20.

In a significant addition for 2024, free parking will also be available on the Fridays preceding these Saturdays at the North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College (NWSLC) car park. This facility, located directly behind the Atkins Building with access from Druid Street, provides extra convenient options for early festive shoppers.

Supporting the Local Community

Council Leader, Cllr Stuart Bray, emphasised the council's awareness of current financial pressures, stating: "We continue to recognise the financial challenges everyone is facing this Christmas, but hope that this free parking offer will urge residents to support their local high street, market and hospitality venues if they can."

The initiative serves as both a thank you to shoppers for their loyalty and a practical measure to drive footfall to Hinckley Market, local shops, restaurants, the cinema, and all town centre businesses during the crucial festive trading period.

Year-Round Free Parking Reminder

Shoppers are reminded that free parking is already available in all council-run car parks on Sundays throughout the year. This permanent benefit provides additional opportunities for residents to visit the town centre without parking costs.

The combined offer of free Saturday parking in December plus existing free Sunday parking creates significant savings for households looking to complete their Christmas shopping locally while supporting Hinckley's economy.
