Tesco has announced a major partnership with delivery companies Yeep, Evri, and Royal Mail to install parcel lockers outside its supermarkets. The lockers, part of a selected store trial, aim to provide customers with greater convenience for collecting, sending, and returning parcels.
Partnership details
Yeep CEO Jamie Dickinson said: "As one of the UK’s most trusted retailers, Tesco shares our commitment to convenience, accessibility, and community presence, making this a significant milestone for Yeep." He added that the partnership marks an important step in making parcel delivery and returns simpler and more accessible. By placing lockers at Tesco locations, customers can access secure parcel services where they already shop.
The trial with Evri expands its existing network of over 11,000 ParcelShops and lockers, including services at Post Office branches and Asda stores. A Tesco spokesperson explained: "We’re constantly looking for ways to make the shopping trip even more convenient for our customers, and as part of a small locker hub partner trial across a small number of stores, we’re pleased to introduce Evri lockers."
Royal Mail's ambition
Royal Mail's Managing Director for Out-of-Home and Commercial Excellence, Jack Clarkson, commented: "This partnership is another example of how we are making it easier than ever for our customers to collect, send and return parcels with us. It’s great news for shoppers and a step towards delivering our ambition to triple our parcel points to 45,000 by 2030."
The fully automated lockers also allow shoppers to drop off Amazon returns. Such lockers are becoming increasingly common outside stores like Aldi, Morrisons, Sainsbury's, and Co-op.
