A pensioner has died in Birmingham following a collision involving a lorry. The incident occurred at the junction of Stechford Road and Stechford Lane shortly before midday on Thursday, April 30.
Details of the Incident
The man, believed to be in his 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been notified and is being supported by officers. The road was closed for several hours but has since reopened to traffic, with normal flow expected to resume gradually.
Police Investigation
The driver of the lorry remained at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries. A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We are investigating after a fatal collision in Stechford. We were called to the junction of Stechford Road and Stechford Lane shortly after midday after a collision involving a lorry and a pedestrian. The pedestrian, a man in his 80s, sadly died at the scene. His family have been made aware and the driver of the vehicle involved has remained at the scene to help with our enquiries."
Appeal for Witnesses
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting log number 2356 of 30 April. The investigation is ongoing, and officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the collision or the moments leading up to it.
