Ferrari Driver Hits 127mph on M6 Motorway Before Speed Camera Shock
Ferrari Driver Hits 127mph on M6, Caught by Cameras

Ferrari Supercar Driver Clocked at 127mph on M6 Motorway

A driver behind the wheel of a Ferrari supercar accelerated to a terrifying 127mph on the M6 motorway in the West Midlands, turning the busy road into an impromptu race track. The high-performance vehicle, often valued at hundreds of thousands of pounds, was caught joyriding along this stretch, nearly doubling the national speed limit of 70mph.

Speed Cameras Capture Reckless Driving Incident

However, the thrill was short-lived as the Ferrari owner received an unwelcome surprise: the car had been detected by speed cameras operating between the M54 slip road near Wolverhampton and Junction 10 for Walsall. It appears the driver either assumed the area was free from surveillance or took a gamble that the cameras would not capture the excessive speed.

Data obtained through a freedom of information request by BirminghamLive reveals this incident, which occurred in May of last year, ranks among the fastest speeds recorded by West Midlands Police since the beginning of the previous year. Given the extreme and hazardous nature of the speed, the driver likely faced the threat of an automatic driving ban.

Not the Fastest Recorded Speed in the Region

While alarming, this was not the highest speed documented in the area. In March of last year, a Mercedes AMG CLA45 driver reached an even more staggering 155mph in Sutton Coldfield. That motorist was spotted directly by a police officer and almost certainly received a driving ban as a consequence.

This case underscores the ongoing issues with speeding on major roads and the effectiveness of automated enforcement systems in promoting road safety.
