The M54 eastbound between Junction 3 (Albrighton) and Junction 2 (Wolverhampton) has been closed following a serious collision, according to National Highways West Midlands. The closure, implemented on Friday morning, is due to a police-led incident, and diversions are currently in place for motorists during the rush hour.

Details of the Incident

Traffic monitoring service Inrix reported that the eastbound carriageway is shut between J3 Albrighton and J2 Wolverhampton. West Mercia Police has launched an investigation into the incident. Inrix stated: "M54 Eastbound closed, slow traffic due to serious accident from J3 A41 Newport Road (Albrighton) to J2 A4510 (Wolverhampton)."

Diversion Routes

Motorists are advised to follow diversion routes: via the A41 Newport Road, then the A5 Watling Street to Gailey, and join the A449 Stratford Road through Standeford until they can re-join the M54 at J2. National Highways West Midlands confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that police investigations are underway and there are currently no delays on the approach.
