The M6 motorway through the Midlands has been closed in both directions due to a 'police-led incident'. The closure affects the stretch between junction 14 (Stafford and Stone) and junction 15 (Stoke/Newcastle-under-Lyme) in Staffordshire.

Details of the Incident

The incident began just before 6pm and is reported to involve a pedestrian. National Highways West Midlands confirmed that traffic is stopped in both directions as police deal with the situation.

Initially, delays were around 15 minutes, but traffic has since built up, with three miles of tailbacks in both directions. Current delays are estimated at 30 minutes, and diversions are in place.

Official Statement

A spokesperson for National Highways West Midlands said: "Traffic is stopped in both directions on the M6 in Staffordshire between J14 Creswell and J15 Hanchurch due to a police led incident. Police are on scene dealing. There are currently 15-minute delays on the approach."
