Solihull Crash: Man Hospitalised After Bus and Van Collide

Emergency services rushed to a serious collision between a bus and a van in Solihull on Friday morning, resulting in one man being hospitalised.

Emergency Response on Warwick Road

The incident occurred on Warwick Road, just after the Olton bridge, at around 7.20am today, Friday, November 7. A single-decker bus and a van were involved in the collision, which prompted a significant emergency service presence.

A West Midlands Fire Service spokesman confirmed they were mobilised quickly, stating, "Just after 7.20am on Friday (7 Nov), we responded to Warwick Road, Olton, following a collision between a van and a single-decker bus." Three fire crews attended the scene, with the first arriving within an impressive four minutes of being dispatched.

Patient Care and Road Closure

The driver of the van was the sole casualty. He suffered a suspected medical episode at the wheel. A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman detailed their response: "We were called to reports of a collision between a car and a bus on Warwick Road at 7.25am, one ambulance attended the scene. On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, from the car."

The man was treated by paramedics at the scene before being transported to Heartlands Hospital for further treatment.

Upon arrival, fire crews found that approximately 20 passengers had already safely evacuated the bus. To ensure public safety, the road towards the town centre was closed, with police assisting in traffic management around the crash site.

Scene Made Safe

The fire service worked efficiently to clear the roadway and secure the vehicles. Their spokesman confirmed, "We had left the scene by 8.45am, after removing the van from the roadway and making both vehicles safe." This swift action allowed for the normal flow of traffic to resume in the area.
