A historic law firm from Plymouth has been celebrated as one of the United Kingdom's very best, securing a top national honour.
Wolferstans, which was originally established in 1812, was awarded the coveted Law Firm of the Year title at the LawNet Awards 2025. This prestigious event recognises the highest-achieving legal practices from across the nation.
Judges Praise Vision and Strategic Excellence
The awards panel highlighted the firm's exceptional performance, noting a 'remarkable alignment' of ambition, strategy, and real-world execution. They described Wolferstans as a shining example of how clear strategic thinking can be transformed into lasting success.
Specific commendations were given for the company's forward-thinking vision, meticulous planning, and its robust internal communication channels, which help drive the firm's performance.
Team Delight at National Recognition
Alisa Willows, the Managing Partner at Wolferstans, expressed the team's elation. "We're absolutely delighted to receive this recognition," she said. "To be named among the best in the country and to represent our region on this stage is a huge honour. Our goal has always been to provide pro-active client care, and this award reflects the hard work, dedication and commitment of our entire team."
David Price, Head of Talent and Client Experience, added his praise for the staff. "I'm very proud of everyone at Wolferstans for winning Law Firm of the Year. I know how hard everyone at the firm works day-in and day-out to deliver exceptional experiences for our clients - this recognition couldn't be more deserved."
Office Consolidation to Support Future Growth
The award comes shortly after the firm announced a consolidation of its office space to support its expanding operations. The Plymstock office will close, with staff relocating to the company's Plympton and North Hill locations.
The firm explained this strategic move in a statement: "Our firm has grown significantly, and we need to bring our teams together to support that growth. As part of this, we've invested in Farrer Court, a new premises opposite our North Hill office. While this space won't be client-facing, it will provide larger, modern facilities for our staff, helping them collaborate more effectively and ensuring they have the resources they need to deliver the best possible service."
