Surrey Chambers Plans Key Events and Economic Survey for Businesses
Surrey Chambers Events and Economic Survey Launch

The Surrey Chambers of Commerce has announced an ambitious schedule of events and initiatives for local businesses throughout November and December, focusing on economic analysis, networking opportunities, and festive celebrations.

Quarterly Economic Survey Launches Across Surrey

The organisation has launched its Quarterly Economic Survey (QES), which represents the UK's largest and longest-running independent business sentiment study. Established in 1989, the survey regularly gathers responses from approximately 5,000 businesses each quarter, providing crucial insights into the performance and challenges facing UK companies.

Local business owners and managers throughout Surrey are being encouraged to participate in this important research, which requires just a few minutes to complete but offers invaluable data for shaping business support and policy decisions.

Budget Concerns and Business Support

The Chambers have expressed clear expectations for the upcoming government budget, emphasising that companies share the government's ambition to grow the economy, reduce inflation and boost productivity. However, they warn that these goals are threatened by escalating business costs.

Recent research conducted by the Chambers reveals concerning trends, with business confidence and investment levels continuing to suffer. Approximately one-fifth of firms anticipate lower turnover in the coming year, while a quarter have already scaled back their investment plans.

The organisation advocates for a budget that actively supports trade, addresses skills shortages, and accelerates infrastructure development to improve the overall business environment.

Upcoming Networking and Festive Events

Several key events are scheduled to support Surrey's business community in the coming weeks:

Business Networking Breakfast - Post Budget Update
On December 3, from 8am to 10am, businesses are invited to the Doubletree by Hilton in Woking for a networking breakfast focused on analysing the Autumn Budget. Following the budget's release on November 26, experts Seb Purbrick of Civian Financial and Conor McManus from Menzies will break down the implications for local businesses, providing actionable insights into policy changes and financial impacts.

Surrey Chambers Annual Christmas Lunch
The business community will come together for a festive celebration on Thursday, December 18, 2025, from noon to 3pm at the Hilton Woking. The event promises a welcome glass of bubbles, a three-course festive lunch, live entertainment, and valuable networking opportunities in a relaxed, celebratory atmosphere.

Members Networking Evening - Spelthorne
An evening networking event at the iconic Shepperton Studios will offer members the chance to unwind, connect, and build new business relationships. The event includes welcome drinks and canapés, with members now able to bring a guest for free as part of their membership benefits.

The Surrey Chambers of Commerce continues to support local businesses through these initiatives and can be contacted on 01483 735540 or via email at info@surrey-chambers.co.uk.
