Chris Davies has reaffirmed his interest in bringing Jhon Solis back to Birmingham City on a permanent basis. Colombian midfielder Solis scored on what could be his final appearance at St Andrew's against Bristol City on Saturday. The 21-year-old has made 17 appearances in all competitions for Blues on loan from Girona and has won the hearts of supporters.
As things stand, Solis is due to make his final appearance for Blues in this weekend's Championship finale at Portsmouth. However, BirminghamLive understands that his loan deal includes an option to buy clause. If the finances make sense and Solis is happy to extend his stay in the Second City, Blues manager Davies would certainly be in favour of a permanent deal.
Davies made it clear that he feels Solis has earned a permanent transfer earlier this month and his opinion hasn't changed. Asked whether he would like to bring Solis back, Davies told BBC Radio WM: "I would absolutely be interested. I don't know the exact details of it but I know there is a deal there so we'll have to see."
The permanent acquisition of Solis would make Blues' midfield rebuild slightly easier this summer. Paik Seung-ho and Tomoki Iwata – who has played most of his football at right-back this season – are contracted for next term, but Tommy Doyle is due to return to Wolverhampton Wanderers at the end of his loan.
