Lidl customers have just 72 hours to claim a monthly reward before a significant change takes effect. The supermarket is discontinuing its popular Coupon Plus feature and introducing a brand new points system.
New Points System Details
Starting Tuesday, May 5, shoppers will earn one point for every £1 spent in-store. These points can then be redeemed for money-off coupons via the Lidl Plus app, which can be used in-store. The change marks the end of Coupon Plus, with the scheme closing on Monday, May 4.
Customer Reactions
After the announcement, one shopper expressed frustration: “I was loving my Lidl plus, don’t mess with it!” Another added: “I actually rate it as it is.”
Official Statement
Louise Weise, chief customer officer at Lidl GB, said: “We’ve done a big piece of work to listen to customers and it was clear from the feedback that they wanted more freedom to decide the rewards that suit them.”
Store Expansion Plans
Lidl has also revealed hundreds of target locations across Great Britain where it is seeking sites for new stores. From Garthdee in Aberdeen and Aldgate in London to Ystradgynlais in Wales and Windsor in Berkshire, the latest list of locations is detailed in the supermarket’s Site Requirements Brochure published today.
Site Requirements and Finder's Fee
Lidl is actively seeking freehold, leasehold, or long-leasehold sites in prominent locations with strong footfall and easy accessibility. A competitive finder’s fee is available to anyone who successfully identifies a previously unknown site that leads to a developed store.
Job Creation and Pay Rates
With locations across the country, each new store will generate high-quality jobs for local people with some of the most competitive benefits in the sector. Entry-level hourly rates are £13.45 nationally, increasing to £14.45 with length of service. In London, hourly pay starts from £14.80, rising further to £15.30 with length of service.
