E.ON Next Announces £100 Savings Below New Energy Price Cap Effective April 1

E.ON Next is rolling out a significant offer that provides customers with a £100 saving below the newly announced Energy Price Cap, set to take effect from 1 April 2026. This initiative comes as a welcome relief for households grappling with energy costs, despite the overall price cap decreasing in April.

Details of the New Price Cap and E.ON's Offer

On 25 February, Ofgem, the energy regulator, confirmed that the new price cap would be £1,641 for a typical household using both electricity and gas and paying by Direct Debit. This cap will be in place from 1 April to 30 June 2026. It represents a 6.6% reduction compared to the previous cap of £1,758, which was set from 1 January to 31 March 2026.

E.ON Next's Next Pledge tariff is designed to automatically adjust each quarter to remain below this price cap. Starting 1 April, the tariff will be priced at £1,541 for average annual consumption, effectively offering a £100 saving. This fixed-term product lasts for 12 months, providing stability in uncertain times.

Executive Insights and Market Context

Julian Lennertz, Chief Commercial Officer at E.ON Next, emphasized the company's commitment to customer reassurance. He stated, "Many people will be looking for reassurance as the wholesale markets react to conflict in the Middle East. We want to do everything we can to provide this and help alleviate anxiety around energy bills."

He added, "That’s why we’ve doubled what E.ON Next customers can save through our Next Pledge tariff, giving them greater confidence in uncertain times." This move aims to address concerns over fluctuating energy prices driven by geopolitical tensions.

Key Features and Considerations

The Next Pledge tariff includes specific terms that customers should be aware of:

  • It is a 12-month fixed-term product with quarterly price adjustments to stay below the Energy Price Cap.
  • Customers on this tariff will see their rates change in alignment with the new cap updates.
  • There are exit fees of £25 per fuel for those who choose to leave the tariff early.

This offer is part of E.ON Next's broader strategy to support households during a period of economic uncertainty and rising living costs. By providing savings below the regulated cap, the company aims to enhance customer loyalty and financial well-being.
