Bridgend Runner's 100km Ultra Challenge for Heart Charity in Brother's Memory

Kev Morgan, an amateur runner from Bridgend, has announced a formidable 100km ultra-endurance challenge across the Brecon Beacons to raise vital funds for the British Heart Foundation (BHF). This ambitious undertaking is deeply personal for Kev, as he is running in memory of his brother, a fellow runner who passed away unexpectedly following a sudden cardiac arrest.

A Personal Mission to Raise Awareness and Funds

Kev explained the motivation behind his challenge, stating: “My brother was a runner himself, and I wanted to take on this challenge to raise awareness as well as funds. His death came completely unexpectedly, which highlights the urgent importance of heart research and understanding the signs of cardiac issues.” This heartfelt effort aims to honor his brother's memory while contributing to critical medical research.

Fundraising Success and Training Journey

To date, the campaign has raised an impressive £1,093, with all proceeds going directly to the British Heart Foundation to support their research into heart and circulatory diseases, including sudden cardiac death. Kev is currently building his mileage and strength in preparation for the event later this year. He is documenting his rigorous training journey online, sharing the highs and lows of preparing for the 100km mountain route to keep the conversation around heart health active and engaging.
