DIY SOS Children In Need: BBC Special Airs Tonight at 9pm
DIY SOS Children In Need: Start Time & Location

The beloved home renovation programme, DIY SOS, is set to broadcast a very special episode tonight in support of BBC Children in Need. In a monumental effort, presenter Nick Knowles and his dedicated team have completely transformed a vital facility for a charity that supports families facing childhood cancer.

When and How to Watch the Big Reveal

The DIY SOS Children in Need special will air tonight, Thursday, November 13, at 9pm on BBC One. The episode is scheduled to run for one hour, concluding at approximately 10pm. It will follow the latest instalment of Celebrity Race Across the World, making for an evening of inspiring television. This broadcast serves as a poignant precursor to the main Children in Need appeal, which takes place tomorrow on Friday, November 14.

This year's project marked a first-time collaboration with BBC One's morning programme, Morning Live. Viewers were given a sneak peek of the ambitious build back in September, but the full, completed transformation has been kept under wraps until tonight's grand reveal.

The Location and Charitable Mission

So, where did this incredible community effort take place? The build was filmed in Cheshire for the charity The Joshua Tree. Founded in 2006, the organisation provides bespoke, holistic support to children diagnosed with cancer and their entire families, helping them navigate the emotional and practical challenges of the journey.

Due to a significant increase in demand for its services from across the country, The Joshua Tree had outgrown its original base. The DIY SOS team, including regulars Chris, Billy, Radha, Ashley, and designer Gabrielle Blackman, took on the challenge of extending the charity's building. They were joined by an army of local volunteers and Morning Live presenters Gethin Jones and Helen Skelton, who rolled up their sleeves to help.

The team had just ten days to dramatically expand the facilities, ensuring the charity can accommodate more families and provide the crucial support needed to improve mental and physical wellbeing and reduce feelings of isolation.

Quotes from the Team

Nick Knowles, the show's presenter, commented on the scale of the project, stating, "We have another huge build ahead of us in Cheshire, which will benefit children who are going through cancer treatment and help support their families too."

Cal Turner, Commissioning Editor for DIY SOS, added, "DIY SOS has always shown the power of people coming together to make a real difference. This year’s collaboration with Morning Live and BBC Children in Need is incredibly special. The build for The Joshua Tree will not only provide vital support to families but will also shine a light on the compassion and generosity of communities across the country."

Don't miss the heartwarming conclusion to this community-powered project tonight on BBC One.
