Six-year-old Corby, a passionate football fan who plays as a goalkeeper for Mexborough Knights under-sevens and supports Sheffield Wednesday, has raised over £3,200 for defibrillators at football grounds and sporting venues. He originally started a sponsored bike ride to raise £250 for prescription sports goggles so he could play football safely, but after exceeding that goal, he decided to help others too.
Fundraising Success
Since launching on April 15, the fundraiser has grown far beyond expectations, reaching £3,205 from 213 donations. The support from the football community has been incredible. Corby's story was shared publicly by Sheffield Wednesday administrator Kris Wigfield, which helped gain huge support from the Wednesday fanbase.
Community Support
Corby also received a video message from Jerry Yates through the Sheffield Wednesday Community project, congratulating him and wishing him luck. He has also had encouraging private support from well-known people with strong Sheffield Wednesday connections. His parents hope to keep building positive momentum ahead of his ride.
Upcoming Bike Ride
Corby's 6.25-mile bike ride takes place around Rother Valley Country Park on May 29, 2026. His parents are trying to keep the momentum going and help Corby raise as much as possible before the ride. The money raised supports Lauren's Legacy / #OneInEveryCorner through Red Sky Foundation, funding defibrillators at football grounds and sporting venues.
Donations can be made via GoFundMe, and updates are shared on Facebook.
