Tour de Manc Charity Ride: Rotary Volunteers Support Cyclists at Marl Pits
Tour de Manc: Rotary Volunteers Support Cyclists

The 'Tour de Manc' is a charity cycling event that began in 2016. This year, the ride took place on Sunday, May 3, featuring four routes ranging between 37 and 125 miles. A new feed stop this time was at Marl Pits Leisure Centre, organized by Rossendale Borough Council, who sought volunteers to help staff the event. Five of our members, plus a couple of our Rotary friends, responded and spent a good deal of time there, sometimes in rainy conditions.

Their roles included event setup and close down, providing refreshments, and directing riders into and out of the venue. All in all, it was a thoroughly enjoyable and worthwhile day, which we would be very happy to support again next year.

Pedal Power: Rotary Members Volunteer at Marl Pits

Rotary members and friends volunteered at the Marl Pits Leisure Centre feed station, providing essential refreshments and directions to cyclists during the Tour de Manc. To keep doing what we do, we need more members and helpers. If you are interested in joining us to use your time, talents, skills, and energy to improve the lives of people in your local community and further afield – or if you think we may be able to help you – then please contact Secretary Arnold Sampson on 07973 310237.
