The incident unfolded on the morning of Wednesday, January 1, 2026, in the Sheldon area of the city. Officers from the Stechford Priority Crime team attended an address on Blakenhale Road to locate a 46-year-old man wanted in connection with an assault.
As police forced entry to the property, the suspect made a desperate bid for freedom. He jumped from a window in an attempt to evade capture, immediately sparking a foot pursuit.
Foot Chase Through Streets and Gardens
The man then tried to flee the area, leading officers on a chase that wound through the streets and multiple back gardens of the local neighbourhood. The pursuit required officers to navigate fences and private outdoor spaces in their efforts to detain him.
