A body has been recovered from the River Avon in Worcestershire during a police search for a missing man. The discovery was made in Pershore this afternoon, Thursday, 8 January 2026.
Police Search Launched After Belongings Found
West Mercia Police had launched a search after personal items were discovered near the Pershore Leisure Centre on Sunday, 4 January. Following initial enquiries, officers identified the owner of the belongings and established that he was believed to have entered the water.
Body Recovered from the Water
In an update issued this afternoon, a police spokesperson confirmed the tragic outcome. "Sadly, a body has been recovered during the search for a man who was believed to have gone into the river in Pershore earlier this week," they stated. Formal identification is yet to take place, but the man's next of kin have been informed of the development.
