Three people have been injured, one seriously, after a car allegedly struck pedestrians outside a Marks and Spencer store on The Broadway in Ealing, west London, on Thursday afternoon. The incident, which occurred shortly before 2:30pm, prompted a major emergency response, including the dispatch of an air ambulance.
Emergency Services Respond
The London Ambulance Service received reports of the collision at 2:29pm. A spokesperson confirmed that multiple resources were sent to the scene, including ambulance crews, paramedics in fast response cars, a volunteer emergency responder crew, and an incident response officer. London’s Air Ambulance also attended.
Paramedics treated three patients at the scene. One patient was taken by road to a major trauma centre as a priority, while the other two were transported to a local hospital. The exact nature of their injuries has not been disclosed, but one person is believed to be seriously hurt.
Road Closures and Disruption
The Broadway remains closed in both directions between High Street and Spring Bridge Road, causing significant traffic disruption. Traffic monitoring site Inrix reported: “A4020 The Broadway in both directions closed, queueing traffic due to accident from B455 High Street to Spring Bridge Road.” Bus services are diverting around the area.
An X user posted video footage of the air ambulance landing, describing the scene as a 'major incident'. Police have cordoned off the area while investigations continue.
