A man and woman accused of murdering a 13-month-old baby girl have appeared in court to deny a series of new, serious charges.
Not Guilty Pleas Entered at Warwick
Kinga Wydrzynska, 25, and Michal Stasiak, 27, both from Rugby, stood before a judge at Warwick Crown Court on Friday, January 9. The pair entered not guilty pleas to five additional charges connected to the death of young Isabella Stasiak.
The tragic case began in January 2025, when Isabella was taken ill at a property in Rugby. Despite being rushed to hospital, the infant could not be saved and died on January 7, 2025.
Escalating Charges and Allegations
Wydrzynska and Stasiak were initially charged in the month of Isabella's death with her murder and with causing or allowing the death of a child. Stasiak also faced a separate charge of possession of indecent images at that time.
However, in a significant development in December 2025, Warwickshire Police brought further allegations. The two defendants were jointly charged with:
- Two counts of sexual assault in relation to Isabella.
- Three counts of assault, ill-treatment, neglect, or abandonment of a child to cause unnecessary suffering or injury. These charges relate to Isabella and two other children.
The recent court hearing was a procedural step to formally join all these counts together for a single trial.
Long Wait for Trial
Following their not guilty pleas to the five new counts, both Wydrzynska and Stasiak were remanded in custody by the court. Their trial, which will now encompass all the charges, has been scheduled to begin on October 6, 2026.
The case continues to be handled by Warwickshire Police, who confirmed the defendants' addresses as Johnson Avenue and Blackwood Avenue in Rugby respectively.
