Chicken Shop Worker Threatened with Fake Gun Over Garlic Sauce Mix-Up
An 18-year-old thug who brandished a fake gun and threatened to kill a chicken shop worker after receiving the wrong sauce with his order has been sentenced to three years in prison.
Marwan Khadir's armed assault lasted over two minutes and involved the use of a realistic imitation firearm during the incident on Christmas Eve last year in south London.
Details of the Sauce Dispute
The confrontation began when Khadir returned to his home and discovered that his order contained incorrect sauces. Footage released by police shows him pacing around his flat, gesticulating and complaining about the mix-up on the phone.
He then went back to the shop and shouted at the employee, "Bossman, come here. Why you give me four burger sauce? I asked for three garlic and three mayo."
Khadir demanded the worker open the counter door, jumped on it, and was pushed back before pulling out the imitation firearm. He cocked the weapon and yelled, "I’m going to kill you now, are you mad?"
Investigation and Arrest
Officers identified Khadir through a combination of CCTV footage, financial tracking, and checks with local residents conducted between Christmas and New Year's Day.
He was arrested by armed police on January 2, with authorities seizing the replica gun used in the attack along with fake ammunition, according to the Metropolitan Police.
Court Proceedings and Sentencing
Khadir pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including:
- Possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence
- Making threats to kill
- Assault occasioning actual bodily harm
The defendant, from Malcolm Close in Penge, was jailed for three years at Woolwich Crown Court on Tuesday, April 7.
Police Response and Victim Support
Detective Sergeant Amy Cross, who led the investigation, commended the efforts of the officers involved. "The tireless work by officers on this case over the Christmas and New Year period is further evidence that policing never stops, and their efforts ultimately led to a conviction," she stated.
She added, "All our thoughts continue to remain with the victim of this terrifying ordeal, something no one should ever have to go through, let alone at their place of work. The strength he has shown since the attack has been remarkable. On top of this, the courage he demonstrated in coming forward and reporting the assault was incredibly brave. He was then able to subsequently identify the perpetrator, a crucial moment in allowing us to move the investigation forward."
