The heartbroken family of a man who died following an assault outside a Birmingham cocktail bar have issued a public plea for witnesses to help them secure justice.

Tragic incident in the early hours

Joshua Johnson-Hector, aged 31, was fatally attacked outside Savanna bar on Bristol Street in the city centre. West Midlands Police have confirmed the incident occurred at approximately 4.15am on Sunday, 28 December.

The victim sustained a serious head injury during the assault and was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment. Despite medical efforts, he tragically passed away the following day, on Monday, 29 December.

Charges brought and family's emotional tribute

In connection with the death, Richard Deakin, 37, of Halesowen, has been charged with manslaughter. He made his first appearance at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on 30 December.

In a joint statement released through police, Mr Johnson-Hector's devastated family described him as coming from a loving family and paid tribute to their lost son and brother. They emphasised their right to see those responsible brought to justice.

"We're requesting that anyone who may have seen Joshua before, during, or after the assault to please come forward and help us," the family said. "Even seemingly insignificant pieces of information could be of great help. You have the option to remain anonymous."

The family also expressed gratitude to those who have already provided information to investigators.
