Three Men Charged After Handgun and Machete Seized at Yardley House Party

Three men have appeared in court and been remanded in custody after police seized a handgun and a machete following reports of trouble at a house party in Yardley, Birmingham.

Police Response to Anti-Social Behaviour

West Midlands Police were called to Whittington Oval in Yardley on Saturday, April 4, after concerns were raised about a gathering at an address. Officers responded to reports of anti-social behaviour at the location.

Upon arrival, a BMW left the scene and failed to stop for police. Special constables later observed two men exiting the vehicle a short distance away. Following an area search, the two men were found hiding behind another car.

During the search, officers discovered a machete and a bag containing a handgun hidden under a bush. The two men were arrested at the scene.

The BMW was stopped nearby, and a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a quantity of cannabis. The driver of the vehicle was also arrested.

Charges and Court Appearance

Alseny Camara, 21, and Emmanuel Popoola, 20, both from Birmingham, along with Julian Donken, 20, from Nottingham, were all charged with multiple offences following the incident.

The charges include:

  • Possession of a firearm
  • Possession of ammunition
  • Possession with intent to supply Class-B drugs
  • Possession of a blade

All three men appeared for their first hearing at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on April 6, where they were remanded in custody ahead of a further hearing scheduled for next month.
