A machete-wielding attacker remains at large after a 77-year-old man was brutally slashed in a daylight assault on a quiet Glasgow street. The victim attempted to fend off the assailant, who was seen in shocking footage uploaded to social media appearing to hack at the pensioner. Police confirmed the man had reportedly been stabbed in his car moments earlier.
Incident Details
Armed officers and a dog unit were scrambled to the scene just after midday on Tuesday, April 28, along with emergency services, to stop the horrific ordeal. An ambulance transported the victim to hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. The man is understood to have exited his black Mercedes after being stabbed in a bid to stop the attack from entering the boot of his vehicle.
The video shows the attacker, dressed in black, pushing the victim away while waving the blade before opening the boot. He then starts hacking at the man as he tries to retrieve bin bags from the motor. The attacker grabs one of the bags, throwing it to the ground, as his victim tries to evade blows from the knife. Police have seized the Mercedes and confirmed they are still hunting for the attacker.
